Purpose:

The purpose of this article is to familiar you with the task of creating a computer account in windows server 2003.

 

Computer Account:

Computer accounts are the accounts of the client computers known as workstations. Administrators can add computer accounts and then can apply policies on computers regarding to the company environment.

 

 

 

To create a new computer account:

Follow the following steps to create computer accounts in an Active Directory Environment

 

1. Open Active Directory Users and Computers.

 

2. Expand the domain or the OU in which you want to create a computer account. By default there is a built-in OU named Computers.

 

3. Right click the Computers OU, point to New and click Computer.

o       domain node

o       Computers

4. Type the computer name and click Next. You can also make some extra settings for this computer account.

 

 

5. Click Next and then click Finish.

 

 

 

Summary:

You have successfully created a new computer account. You can now apply group policy settings to this computer account and other settings according to your skills.
