Outlook Express Problem – Some emails missing

First step
: Check the deleted mails from Recycle bin (due to user made yes option to compacting while closing OE) every 100th time of opening and closing or due to more space usage - all emails in the folders will be deleted by showing message to do compacting yes or no.

Second step :
Find files with bak extension i.e. Inbox.bak

Third step : Just right click all *.bak files > cut > paste it to another drive or in a New folder named as restored files or AUW (as u wish).

Fourth step : Make one sub folder in that newly created folder copy all *.bak files again and paste it in that sub folder.

Fifth step : Rename all files as recover.dbx , recover1.dbx …….

Sixth step : Create a new folder in OE > right click local folder > create new folder > named as recover, recover1, recover2.. likewise or create a same name which you given to renamed files.

Seventh step
: copy the renamed files and paste it in data folder, how to find the data files location which contain all OE emails? Go to option in OE > maintenance > click data files location > copy the line and paste it in Run (win key + R) . Just paste the renamed files here.

Eight step : In OE - Check the recover folder’s showing the restored emails, if not right click that folder > properties > path or location of the file. Ex: recover folder showing path as c:\docu~\local~\microsoft\oulook express\recover(1).dbx.
Go to that data file location > you can find 2 similar files such as recover.dbx and recover(1).dbx (not that recover1.dbx don’t confuse with that)
Rename the file recover(1).dbx as recover(2).dbx and the same way rename the file recover.dbx to recover(1).dbx
Now go to OE check again the folder > it will show the restored files. Do the same procedure for all renamed files and folders.
